We stayed in a studio unit April 2004. Good location one block off Central Park near 7th Avenue. Close to Subway and Times Square. No amenities or activities offered by the facility, but the entire city is just out the door. Front desk staff friendly, but I had communication problems due to heavy foreign accent. The desk personnel had to call for someone else to check in RCI reservations, which required special paperwork that they did not know how to complete. We had called ahead and were told the room would be ready at 2:00pm. When we arrived we were told to return at 3:00, which we did. At that time the room was ready, but the RCI person was not there and we were told to wait. Almost missed our 4:00 appointment downtown due to all of the delays. One of the two elevators was not working. Were told they had a health club, which had a $50 fee that we did not use.

Main room in studio was 17' X 12' or about 200 sq feet. You would have to move the furniture around to open up the sofa bed and it would be almost impossible to negotiate the room at night with the sofa folded out. Room works best for just 2 people. Unit seems to have been recently refurbished with new wood flooring, furniture, marble flooring and tub-surround in bath. Kitchenette with under- counter refrigerator, 2 burner stovetop, microwave, coffeepot, toaster, dishes for 4, basic pots & pans. Queen bed (firm) and queen pull out sofa. TV/VCR/DVD. TV not located very conveniently. It was placed directly in front of the bed and even with the armoire door open all the way, you really couldn't watch the TV from the sofa. The bed was just a frame on wheels with no headboard. So when you tried to sit up in the bed, it tended to roll away from the wall.

Mid-week cleaning. Extremely small bath with tub/shower, sink & toilet. Nicely decorated. Armoire with TV and 2 drawers, 2 drawer nightstand, glass coffee table, glass kitchenette table & 2 chairs. Phone with free local calling, I was able to call out on Internet. Limited # of towels for 3.

Biggest complaint other than being on the small side and having limited drawer space, but you can put clothing on shelves in closet is NO Temperature control at all. Seems to be a central heating system with radiators and NO AC. Absolutely no way to circulate air in the unit. RCI listing states AC in all units - don't believe it!! Looks like most of them had no AC, a few of the units have a window AC unit, but only a few. We were in #706, which was on the backside of the building with windows looking out to a wonderful view of the alley and the AC units from the next building.

No screens on windows, so when we opened them up, all sort of trash and bugs came flying in. With the windows opened and blinds open to allow limited airflow, all the neighbors could see in. When we asked about a room with AC we were told there was nothing they could do. Not acceptable by my standards. Since the bed was smashed right up against the windows, we ended up closing the windows and just sweating it out in 80+ degree weather. Even a ceiling fan would have been of help. Maybe OK in the winter, but not sure how well this would work in the middle of the summer with even higher temperatures. With just the simple addition of AC to every room, it could be an OK place. RCI needs to change the description in their directory that says all rooms with AC. I won't be going back.

I rate it a 4 due to small size of room & bath as well as the lack of temperature control that I find to be completely unacceptable.
