We are from New England so we sort of knew what to expect! This is a very remote area - so if it is nightlife you want/need - forget it! Our nightly excitement was looking for moose along the highway (Route 201) and getting an ice cream cone!! We are from Massachusetts so we drove up and trailered our 16 foot motorboat - otherwise we would have gone crazy. If you don't fish, white water raft or hike - you will be bored to death! Bring as much food as you can cause there is not too much shopping there. I can't imagine if you fly in and have to BUY everything!!

There are 3 single family houses - I guess one is a lockout (we peeked in the windows) so it was very quiet. One of the houses was empty most of the week. I think they are new to the Timeshare scene- since we had daily bedmaking etc - more like a hotel than a timeshare.

We were in Unit 101 which is a single family 3 Bedroom log home. B/R 1: Double Bed, Jaccuzzi Tub, with stall shower, B/R 2: Double Bed, B/R 3: Bunk bed with double on the bottom and a twin on top. There is one bathroom between the other 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the second floor loft along with a sitting area with a pull out couch. The master bedroom has A/C - which you usually don't need in Maine but since it was 95+ degrees EVERY day it was greatly appreciated! Hardwood floors throughout, pine furniture, large dining area and leather couches, no smoking, no pets and no noise after 11 PM, no cell service!

Kitchen has: Dishwasher, microwave, mixer, blender, coffee pot, lots of pots and pans (Lyse 18/10 stainless steel commercial grade), dishes (cuisinart), lobster pot, granite countertops, and washer and dryer.

The unit has Direct TV, CD/Stereo, gas grille, deck, adarondack (sp?) chairs and picnic table, gas fireplace, nice Stainless steel utensils for the grill and kitchen. There was daily towel change and bed making.

The main part of the house does not have A/c but you usually don't need it! One phone in the kitchen and one TV in the livingroom. It would have been nice to have a TV in the master B/R that was upstairs!

Activities on site: outdoor pool (small but wet) kayaks, small lake, hiking, white water rafting, game room, brewery, game room, hot tub, paddle tennis, restaurant (hotter than hell when it is 95 degrees out - no A/C)!

We did have a nice time but we KNEW what to expect. Keep in mind - this place is very REMOTE!! Bring lots of reading material and Game Boys (if your kids are into that).

Feel free to email with questions.

Traded into Northern Outdoors for a February snowmobiling vacation, and had stayed there before as a hotel guest in the main lodge. This year when we discovered they had some timeshares, we exchanged into a one bedroom. The timeshare units are about a five minute walk up a good sized hill from the main lodge Most of Northern Outdoors is rental, with just a few timeshare units. The main lodge is inviting, with a huge fireplace, sitting area, pool table, and game room. Kids seemed to be having a good time in the game room. There is a very nice restaurant with on-site brew pub. If you like beer, you must try their sampler. Outside is a wonderful, huge hot tub, open year round, and an outdoor pool and tennis court open in summer. The atmosphere is very casual - hey this is Maine.

The one bedroom unit appeared to be a lockout and was the downstairs part of a two bedroom unit above us. There weren't many kitchen extras, like serving bowls and pitchers, but the pots and pans were like new, and there were enough of the basics for four. Our downstairs unit had a small full kitchen (no dishwasher) and dining area, fine for four people. There was a living area with pull out couch that our friends used, and we had the large master bedroom with king sized bed and two person whirlpool. There was one bathroom, accessible from the master bedroom or the living room. There was no phone in our unit, which was a major inconvenience. There was one 25" TV, in the living room with DirecTV. The funny part was a huge storage area off the master bedroom that had all the deck chairs (for the summer) and the hot water heater, etc. It was fine for storing our snowmobiling gear, but felt odd to have access to this area. Also off the master bedroom was an unfinished closet where we stowed some gear. There was no closet downstairs at all for hanging clothes. It felt like the unit wasn't quite finished.

We explored the upstairs when it was empty, thanks to a nice housekeeping staff. The upstairs unit had a bedroom with either a double or queen bed and the other bedroom had bunk beds. There was one bathroom between the two bedrooms. The kitchen area was very large, with a long bar separating it from a large dining area. I noted a dishwasher. The living room was lovely, with hardwood floors. Everything was new looking. No hot tub. I think the master bedroom in the downstairs unit is the master bedroom for the whole house. I can't remember if I saw a phone upstairs, but I did note that there was no TV upstairs. The housekeeping staff told us that they weren't currently using the upstairs as a timeshare, so that could explain the missing TV.

All the timeshare units have a deck/balcony overlooking a wooded area obscuring a small lake. It feels woodsy and private.

I think this resort is just getting its feet wet with timesharing. I I may be wrong, but it seems to be they are just experimenting with it a little, to see if it will work for them.

Check-in was easy and fast. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. We didn't always have everything we needed (like toilet paper!) but when we told the housekeeping staff they were quickly responsive.

> This is a beautiful area in the mountains of Western Maine. Activities would vary in this area, depending on the time of year. It is an absolutely wonderful location for snowmobiling, and I know that a major activity in The Forks in the summer is white-water rafting, which this resort offers.

I give this resort a 7.5 and it would have been higher if there had been a phone, another TV in the bedroom, and better attention to some details. I would be happy to answer any questions about this resort, or Maine in general.
