| I have been reading this with great interest since I am in the process of writing an article for the Grand Rapids Press on timeshare purchase and we are in the market for one more week (I swear it is the last!!!). I called Jeff Crouch at International Wholesalers in Montgomery, Texas and he confirmed that this resort is in high demand for Europeans and has a waiting list similar to our waiting list for Hawaii. It is in the middle of a game preserve and has a "camp" environment - which is why it is not a GC. It is also very close to Sun City - the Vegas of Africa. Jeff also told me that he has been selling this resort for five years and it has always had this tradability. It also has 15,000 owners already! We own two units outside of the US - one in Antigua and one in Saint Lucia. They both meet our criteria for low maintenance fees (as does the SA week obviously) of less than $300. We have owned in Antigua for five years and the maintenance fee has risen from $281 to $294 in five years because it is protected by the government of Antigua. The resort can only charge what it actually costs to run the resort and it is strictly monitored. We have felt that this has greater protection than resorts we own in the US. This is, as they say, a flyer. A risk. But for the money - a pretty good risk. If all goes smoothly - we will also be purchasing.
