Ron:
I have been reading this South Africa timeshare discussion with Interest lately. I also found it hard to belive SA would have the kind of demand people are talking about. I just don't see SA being one of the top international destinations for Timeshare owners.
I don't know that I would go as far as to say some RCI programmer is
being dishonest but it could very well be a honest programming error.
If it is a error or anomally when this is corrected trade value could drop sharply.
I would sure like to hear from others who have experience with SA demand.

> Here's how my imagination works. Say some RCI computer programmer wants to have access to the cream of the crop trades. He sets the trade power to max for some obscure (cheap) resort in S. Africa that hardly anybody's gonna request. Then he buys it and maybe every friend he's got. Nobody at RCI knows but them. Now remember that the RCI reps had no idea that this resort would pull up the kind of trades which it was and they had no explanation.

> As far out as that sounds, the sky would fall if the trade power was ever reset to normal. And yet I want one too. I want to believe. Also if many more people start depositing weeks from Dikhololo then what happens to the trade power?

> It may be a cheap investment but better be prepared to take the loss without complaint because this is still too good to be true.

It sounds too good to be true, which is something my father always told me to be skeptical of, and believe me I am. Someone needs to talk me out of this, or shed some light on this subject, because I am very close to sealing the deal. Anyone else out there have an opinion? What are the pitfalls here? I've read this whole thread, and have seen only one or two negative comments.

There are a lot of gold crown resorts in South Africa so maybe someone at RCI will fess up to whether they all trade well. (You might have to ask the question the opposite way -- how hard are they to get into?)
