| Tom, I have been out of town on a trip or I would have posted a response sooner regarding your report about the South African resort. I came across the same low priced resort and talked with the same broker that you are dealing with. Personally, I couldn't believe what I was being told either so I asked the broker if he would just sell me one of the space banked deposits for the resort so I could see for myself, and he agreed to do so and transferred the deposit to my RCI account. My experience searching against the deposit is the same as yours. It pulls up tons of offerings, including Hawaii etc. as you indicated. It seems to pull up an even better selection of offerings for international resorts, and during peak time periods. Thru a series of e-mails, and being the PITA that I am, I compared the trade power of this resort with the trade power of a Southern California resort owned by another TUG member, and the trade power seemed to be comparable. Sometimes the So. Cal. week pulled up more, sometimes the South African resort pulled up more. The low maintenance fee is a big, big plus (though I thought the broker said the yearly fee was $180/yr. instead of the $108, but I could be mistaken). Thus far, I have not made the actual purchase for the week. Like someone in the thread below that discusses the resort said, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. However, I have to say that right now I have not been able to find out what the problem is, and the resort seems to indeed be the best value I have ever seen in a timeshare (and I have bought and sold several, including Fairfield, Marriott, and Disney).
